Events
The Nokian Tyres Russian plant located in Vsevolozhsk, Leningrad Region, has produced its 100 millionth tire since the beginning of its operations, which has taken 12 years for Finish specialists.
A ceremony dedicated to the production milestone took place on October 10 and was attended by top managers of both Nokian Tyres group and the Russian plant as well as Aleksander DROZDENKO, Leningrad Region governor, and Lauri PULLOLA, Deputy Consul General of Finland in Saint Petersburg. Nina OBVINTSEVA, General Director, represented Omsk Carbon Group.
During the ceremony, a load transfer robot delivered the symbolic 100 millionth tire to the podium. With the Vsevolozhsk plant being Nokian’s second production site, its capacity will rise from 15 to 17 million tires per year before the end of 2017. This substantially exceeds a plant in the Finnish Town of Nokia, having an output of merely 3.5 million tires annually.
Late in the next year, Nokian Tyres will commence the construction of a plant in the USA (the State of Tennessee), which will service the North American market, with its first tires expected in 2020.
Omsk Carbon Group has been cooperating with Nokian Tyres group for already 15 years. Historical notes: Omsk carbon blacks were first shipped to the plant in Finland as early as 2004 via an intermediary. In 2007, Nokian initiated direct cooperation, which so far has been a success.
—Nokian Tyres is our strategically important customer in terms of its presence in the domestic market, stability in the European market and willingness to start cooperation in the USA. Generally, we can see positive dynamics in the development of our relations,— according to Nina OBVINTSEVA.
